Friends of Cley Church
It is difficult to describe the wonders of this building here, but there is a booklet at the rear of church and of course, our website. The friends wish to embrace the entire community and beyond, not just those of our quite small worshipping community. It was built in the reign of the Plantagenets for everyone to enjoy forever. But without you, there would not be the concerts, lunches, events and coffee mornings, and fairs, to put a live heart into this magnificent place and celebrate its ongoing beauty.
Nowadays, the church is an inviting and regularly used place with diverse uses from our special children’s service and those in the style of Taize to the common worship and the more formal 1662 Communion service. There are many modern facilities on the way though.
New heating plans are being drawn up, as well as some excellently designed toilets and a modern kitchen area. Also new LED lighting in the Chancel – all with the help of the Friends.
The Friends of Cley Church are one of the means by which you can be involved in the life of this truly splendid building. The friends help Cley Parochial Church Council in the conservation and enhancement of the amenities and fabric of the church and churchyard of Saint Margaret’s Cley.
For the cost of an annual subscription all members may come to The Friends Annual General Meeting, and will receive news of current projects, plans for the future, and notice of special events such as concerts, festival services fairs, suppers and coffee mornings.
The Friends of Cley Church has recently been restarted, and at present, new members are being enrolled. Concerts and other events are being arranged for the Spring and Summer of 2013. The update which follows will be adjusted every time a new piece of information becomes available.
For an immediate update or any other question you can email Joe on firstname.lastname@example.org or see the notice board in Cley church.
